Stupefacendo (od incantato) all'occhio dell'abaco,
il baluginio divento' piu' intenso.
L'ebbrezza che percorreva il corticale
giunse ai piedi, ma del tavolo;
e rotolando sull'orlo del vaso amplifico' gli spruzzi,
del supersensibile.
A quel punto, quasi presi dalla sorprendente presenza,
i materiali, oramai apicalmente entropici,
furono un mai nulla quasi profetico.
Ma, la ricerca di uno stile fu quasi vana.
Sai a volte l'alcool fa' proprio brutti scherzi !

§Stupefying (or amazing) at the abacus's eye,
the shining became more intense.
The thrill thats running on the cortex
reached the legs, but of the table;
and rolling on the mouth of the vase,
boosts the sprinkling of super perception.
Meanwhile, almost taken by a surprising presence,
the stuff, by then peaking entropically,
might've been never anything almost prophetically.
But, the quest of a style was almost vain.
U know sometimes alcohol makes us fools!

A conversation with Steve around Klee, "Ebbrezza" and "Pulp Icon"

How do you see Klee's picture "Intoxication" becoming an example of a "pulp icon"?
I clearly hear the Eko and drums but no oval element.
Then, I am a bit puzzled by what you mean by pulp ("the strong, pulsing vision of 'pulp'), a pulp event" ("we tried to depict a distorted 'pulp' event", and "pulp icon" ("I understand that the picture is a 'pulp' icon").
To me, pulp refers to stories of action heroes (Green Hornet, The Shadow, early Batman, etc.) of the 1930s to 1950s, who mostly appeared in comic books and fought various villains. Thus, someone like The Phantom is a pulp icon.

The meaning of ‘pulp’. I understand that in English ‘pulp’ is used in the sense of ‘pulp fiction’. My idea about it is slightly different.
After Tarantino made Pulp Fiction, the term here also came to refer to music.
It is music that describes a high state of emotion, when the heart is
palpitating so hard it is on the point of bursting, perhaps because of
fear, narcotic excess, whatever. But also at that point when a person
is truly alive. Klee’s painting typifies that feeling and moment for
visually, and I have tried to create that in music.
So Klee’s painting, for me, represents an instance of that, and the piece is my way of synthesizing that hot, explosive idea of pulp musically. The head with two eyes and the two mouths implies a state of ambiguity. Is there a sailboat, a frying pan or butcher’s knife? Do you see a lit fire? Is there a flower or a half moon? Is it morning or evening? Is it the end of the day or the night?
The animal’s expression seems such that it’son the edge of crying at the top of its voice or is it singing its swansong?
Whatever, from my humble perspective it seems a perfect representation of the heat of a pulp moment.
It’s full of the knowledge of terror but also extreme doubt. Klee also refers in this painting to primordial fear and a state of shock.
Here, hopefully, reading the text not inserted in the music thus means that that there could be some assonance for us.

Music for Klee, my mother and the cat
Only on CD'R-OFF1003/1AHS2011

Recorded in april 1995 in Milano, with Eko Super Junior Keyboard on
a tape cassette deck. Mastered at Zim House in 2007.
The piece was born out of a demo recording, and was first included in
Wind’s Songs Recording Sessions, but was discarded because we haven’t
been able to reproduce the particular sound that creates a sense of
heated intimacy and which seems to reflect Klee’s painting in the
studio.
